Thomas M. is also a Veteran, having served overseas with the SEABEES and is a graduate of S.E. MO State University with a Degree in Business. He lives in Cape with Mary, his wife of 39 years with five children.

He has been a member of the local Rotary Club, and belongs to St. Mary's Cathedral. In 1968 he was State President of the M.A.R., and named REALTOR of the Year for the State of Missouri in 1970 and recieved the Realtor's Lifetime Acheivement Award. Shad Burner received his real estate license and joined Exit in 2012. Prior to real estate, Burner spent more than five years working with Southeast Missouri State University, where he most recently served as the Director of Alumni Services.
After growing up in Bernie, Mo., Burner moved to Cape Girardeau in 2003 to attend Southeast where he received his bachelor’s degree in mass communication and his master’s degree in higher education administration. Following graduation, he worked for nearly two years in marketing and communications for the University before moving into the alumni office.
Burner was a 2008 graduate of Leadership Cape, a 2011 graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training Course where he received the highest award for achievement as voted by his fellow classmates and has been involved in a variety of community organizations including Cape Girardeau Downtown Rotary and the United Way of Southeast Missouri.
Shad, his wife, Layne, and daughter, Kaydence, are members of St. Mary Cathedral Parish in Cape.
